We learned a few months ago that Google intended to launch a PowerPoint-alike web application, created with their own technologies (GWT). Well, it gave us an idea… Why don't we try to develop a PowerPoint-alike user interface using GOA WinForms…

During the GOA Coding Summer, a junior developer started to prototype the user interface of Microsoft’s PowerPoint well known product. The deal was to develop a Flash Graphical User Interface the closest possible to the original software in the Windows environment.

He did it! He achieved this goal by creating from scratch this never seen WEB 2.0 PowerPoint alike interface. Moreover, he also implemented basic functionalities such as moving pictures, text editing, changing text styles, the view menu, etc.

Beyond this great achievement, what’s important to point out is the fact that we are speaking of a junior developer, learning the technology and using GOA WinForms Pro which is still in Alpha release. This makes me think that we are going to create truly great RIAs using GOA in the next few years!

And now, let’s launch a challenge to Google; will their AJAX interface be as user friendly, as performing and as cross-browsers as ours?

PowerPoint-alike GOA UI.
Here is NETiKA TECH's GOA Coding Summer PowerPoint-alike RIA.
